Maintaining My Littles Routine During the Holidays

I have been compensated by Johnson’s® Baby for this post; however, I am sharing my own
thoughts. All opinions are my own. The holidays gave me plenty of reasons to neglect the fundamentals of self-care but if my kids aren’t adjusting well with the surprises the season has to offer it can feel impossible to find ways to stick my regular schedule. It’s a busy time and keeping my routine becomes less and less of a priority. While children of all ages crave routine – my older three do a lot better job of adjusting to the often-hectic schedule and the changes that the holidays might throw at us during, my youngest, on the other hand, is not so forgiving with all the hustle and bustle that goes hand-in-hand with the holidays season.

A sleep deprived, overstimulated toddler, is a recipe for disaster and can turn a day of
shopping or a festive night out into a complete nightmare. New environments, distractions,
change in diet and just an overall upset to our normal routine all contribute to melt-downs,
moodiness, and seemingly crazy behavior of our toddlers.

While traveling or at home, Walmart helps me to overcome these particular challenges of the
season by offering online order and in-store pickup. No matter where I am, I can always find a
Walmart and I know that they will have my staple JOHNSON’S® Baby products in stock.
For nights that we may be out and about past her bedtime dining with family and friends or
enjoying holiday parties I bring along JOHNSON’S® HEAD-TO- TOE® Baby Cleansing Cloths.
These super thick wipes are designed to give baby an easy, all over cleaning with no water
necessary! A quick way to wash off the mess of the day without having to take a full-on bath.
Switch to the jammies that I stuck in the baby bag and she’s all ready to chill out before
hopefully falling asleep, and even if she doesn’t at least I know she’s clean lol.
Moms have to multitask and hack where and when we can so I also take this time as a timeout
for myself.

The holidays are probably one of the most stressful times of year and it’s hard to know when to
stop and take a second to just stop and take a break. Bath time at home gives me a second to
lock away with my youngest, and steal a few moments while she enjoys her bubble bath. How
can I not love watching her face playing in the bubbles? It’s a win-win, when I know she’s safe
and getting all cleaned up from the busy days we have. Not only does the lavender scent of the
calm her, but it relaxes me as well. After bath time, she is clean and fresh smelling and her skin
is soft and never dry. A nice soothing massage with JOHNSON’S® Baby BEDTIME® Lotion, slip
her into pajamas and my 2-year- old is prepped and primed for bed no matter what is going on.

How do you keep your tiny human’s routine going through the hustle and bustle of the holiday
season? Let me know in the comments.
