There is nothing like getting pretty in the morning, especially when you can do it fast and simply. I love to play with makeup and try new products and I still do from time to time but my normal everyday routine doesn’t allow the time to get entirely done up. There are a limited amount of days in the month where I am actually face-to-face with a client; the rest of those days I work from home, designing and editing. My tiny humans really don’t care too much about what I look like and I can certainly do my work in my pj’s; but I know that I feel much better when I can walk by the hall mirror or accidentally turn my self-camera on and see that I look alive and well put together. With the new baby on the way, I will be absolutely be running with this so I don’t look like something from the Walking Dead when visitors are passing by to visit.

When you’re working, running errands, and chasing behind tiny humans the luxury of having extra time to primp and prim often time gets lost. Quick and easy makeup for those days when you want to look great but don’t have much time is a must! Start to finish this routine should take no more than 10-15 minutes of your time. Here’s how I manage to put my face and hair together while managing not to eat into too much of the time I don’t have.
CoverFX Mattifying Primer with Anti-Acne Treatment 0.5 oz $16.00 | 1 oz $38.00)is a lightweight, water-resistant gel-primer that helps keep skin matte while minimizing the appearance of fine lines and pores. This has been the only primer that keeps my oil slick of a forehead nice and matte all day long. (
If there is any one thing I need to make my face brighter and more awake, I have got to conceal my under-eye area. There is no skipping this step when I’m waking up after a few hours of terrible sleep, or a late night working. Can we say bye-bye dark circles!! (Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Concealer $29.00)
A new(er) favorite I fell right in love with this tinted bb + cc cream. This blends in perfectly with my skin tone with leaving my skin with a sun-kissed glow all day. The key here is to be quick so, apply with fingertips and go! You can build up for medium coverage if you need some extra lovin’ but you won’t need foundation. (COMPLEXION RESCUE Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream $29.00)
I discovered this blush after going to a fall beauty event at Nordstrom a few years back and haven’t used another since. I never really did too much in the blush department before finding this one. A pinkish-brown color with just enough shimmer to light up your face. I don’t ever skip this step. (MAC Cosmetics Powder Blush in ‘Format’ $22.00)
Your brows can bring life to your entire face all by themselves. They are important because they frame your face and liven your eyes. I don’t change much when I’m in a rush or spending more time on my face when it comes to my brows because I know the impact they can have. After filling in I use concealer to neaten the underside of the brow. This is my very favorite brow pencil and since I found it, I haven’t used any other. With it’s super thin tip it makes filling in a breeze! (MAC Cosmetics Brow Pencil in ‘Spiked’ $16.50)
This mascara does wonders all on it’s on. It really doesn’t need help from anything else. The brush separates my lashes really well and lengthens my curl. Sometimes I double up on the application if I want to add a bit more drama. After covering up my dark circles with concealer the beautiful dark pigment of this mascara makes my eyes pop and lashes stand out! (Make Up For Ever $24.00) Smoky Extravagant Mascara
Nude, natural and not sticky – I love this gloss to add a little something to my lips when on the go or just sitting around the house. Plus the designer in me is a sucker for their beautiful packaging. Shea Moisture’s cosmetic line is super affordable and only available in Target stores/online. (Shea Moisture Lip Gloss in ‘Caroline’ $9.99)
There are days that messy buns are just what it is and other days this stuff helps me keeps my fly aways nice and tamed. The trick is, to use a toothbrush (an old one of course) to wisp through your hair after spraying it with the product. The toothbrush just does the job so much better than any hairbrush when it comes to laying those hairs down. The great thing about this hair spray is that while your hair will stay put, it still allows for manipulation. (John Frieda Frizz Ease Keraflex Flex Hold Hairspray $9.99)
